Tile Roofing Mistakes That a Good Roofer Never Makes

Tile roofs are among the strongest and most versatile roofing systems that can be used for residential homes. However, wrong installation or other errors made by the installer could compromise their quality and performance. That said, you should only hire qualified and experienced professionals to handle your roofing project.

In this post, trusted roofing company Waynco Roofing lists some mistakes that a good roofing contractor never makes during a tile roof installation job.

Ignoring Weather Restrictions

Tile roofing requires adequate drying time for the system’s adhesive. This means ensuring the right weather conditions during roof installation. For tile roofing, you will need warm, dry weather for at least two days. So you’ll have to check with reliable weather forecasting to make sure it won’t rain on installation day. If your contractor ignores weather conditions, you might want to consider this as a red flag.

Using the Wrong Tile Installation Pattern

Your roofer should use the prescribed installation pattern so as to create a waterproof roofing system. That said, using the wrong pattern won’t give you a waterproof roof. If you have a slanted roof, the first row of tiles should be placed along the bottom edge of the roof on both the front and back slopes. From here, the installer can work their way upwards along the roof surface until they reach the roof peak. For flat roofs, tiles should first be installed at the outside edge of the roof. Installers have to work inward toward the center. During installation, try to observe the process of the workers. And if something seems amiss, don’t hesitate to raise your concerns.

Failure to Follow Manufacturer Instructions

Roofing contractors should follow manufacturer instructions at all costs. They should also have complete knowledge about the correct procedures and requirements of the specific type of roof that you have. If your contractor fails to follow manufacturer instructions, this could potentially void your warranty and cause you major headaches.
